Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down dough and divide into 8 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a ball and place on a greased baking sheet, leaving space between.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from oven, brush with melted butter if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
- Ensure milk is warm but not hot to activate yeast properly.
- You can add herbs or cheese for extra flavor.
